How Guess My Time works
You're walking, running, riding, or swimming for a cause. You've got a JustGiving page set up. Now you want a fun way to get friends and family involved beyond a flat "please donate" message.
That's what Guess My Time is for. People guess how long your event will take you, closest guess wins, and your donation page picks up the traffic along the way. Here's how it works.
1. Set up your sweepstake
It takes about 90 seconds. You give us:
- A title ("Sarah's London Marathon", "Memory Walk 2026", "Dave's coast-to-coast swim").
- The event date so the page knows when guessing closes.
- Who's doing it — your name, or the team's name.
- A suggested donation amount (more on that below — it's only a suggestion).
- Your fundraising page URL — JustGiving, Enthuse, GoFundMe, whatever you already use.
Hit publish. You get a short shareable link in the format guessmytime.com/s/your-event.
Let's say you're walking the Memory Walk for Alzheimer's Society. Your link goes out to friends, family, the WhatsApp group, the office Slack, the parents on the school run.
2. Share the link and collect guesses
When someone opens the link, they see a clean page with your event details, a link to your fundraising page, and a single form: hours, minutes, seconds.
They type their best guess. They hit submit. Done.
- No signup. No password, no email verification, no app to download.
- One guess per person. Keeps it fair.
- The donation amount is suggested, not required. People can enter for free. Many will donate anyway — the suggestion just gives them a number to work from.
You can drop the link into a text, an email, a Facebook post, a WhatsApp group, your work intranet. Anywhere people will read it.
3. Publish the actual time. Closest guess wins
You finish the event. You write down your time (or grab it from the official results, or your watch). You log back in and publish it.
Guess My Time sorts everyone's guesses by how close they were to the real number. The closest guess wins.
The prize is whatever you said it was. A bottle of wine. Bragging rights in the family WhatsApp. A homemade cake. A pub round. Sorting out the winner is between you and them — we don't post anything in the post.
Common questions before you start
Is this legal?
Yes — it's a free prize draw, not a lottery, because the donation isn't required to enter. The full breakdown lives in our guide to UK charity sweepstake legality.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. Guess My Time is free for individual organisers. No fees, no commission, no card details required.
Where does the donation money go?
Straight to your JustGiving, Enthuse, or GoFundMe page. Money never flows through Guess My Time — we just link out to whatever page you already have. We don't see donations, take a cut, or hold funds.
Can I get my charity's branding on the page?
Yes — that's the path for charities running this across multiple supporters. See the Guess My Time for charities page for how that works.

Ready to set one up?
It really does take 90 seconds. You'll be sharing the link in less time than it takes to write a sponsorship message.
