About Guess My Time and the people behind it

Why this exists

My sister was walking for Alzheimer's Society and asked whether there was a digital version of the old paper "guess my finish time" sweepstake. The closest tool, guessmytime.org, had been offline for years. So I built guessmytime.com properly, as a product, so the next fundraiser who looked for one wouldn't hit the same dead end.

The cause is personal

The cause is personal in our family. Dementia has touched it directly, and that's the reason this got built carefully rather than as a quick weekend hack. The families using Guess My Time aren't an abstraction to us.

Who built this

Mostly one person: Mark Rawson, a UK software developer. Guess My Time is a product of Webhooks Ltd, a one-person UK software consultancy that builds and ships product work for UK founders. You can read more about the consultancy side at webhooks.technology.

What this means in practice

A few things follow from being a small, self-funded operation rather than a venture-backed startup:

  • No donations flow through Guess My Time. Money goes directly from the giver to the fundraiser's JustGiving, Enthuse, or GoFundMe page. We never see it, we never hold it, we never take a cut.
  • We don't sell or share data. No ad networks, no analytics resold to third parties, no email list rented out. The privacy notice is linked from every sweepstake page.
  • We're not chasing growth at any cost. There's no investor pushing us to add upsells, dark patterns, or aggressive notifications to charity supporters. The product stays narrow on purpose.
  • It's free to use, and will stay free for individual organisers. Hosting is cheap, and Guess My Time runs on infrastructure Webhooks Ltd already owns for other work. Late in 2026 we plan to launch a paid tier for charities and employers who want branding, custom domains, and a single point of contact — that's how we cover our time without nickel-and-diming the people running a sponsored walk.

That's the whole business model. There isn't a hidden one.
